Privacy Statement

Aurora believes that electronic privacy is crucial to the ongoing success of the Internet as a service and as a commercial and entertainment medium.

Our policy is to keep the details we collect completely confidential. We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Under no circumstances will we pass your details to a third party.

and any other details you wish to enter whilst ordering. This is to ensure that we send the goods to the correct delivery address, to collect the funds owed to Aurora and to provide an excellent service. No other information is collected by the site or us. We do not collect sensitive information without your specific consent. Credit card (copy) slips are placed in a secured safe, at the end of each transaction.

We will only use the personal data to contact you if there is a problem with an order, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

The personal data we hold should be accurate and up to date. If you wish, you can see what information we keep about you. Please contact us by e-mail and we will copy the details direct from the database and send it to you by first class post. Any inaccuracies or alterations you advise us of will be changed automatically. Please e-mail us if you wish to have your details removed - this then will be done immediately.

The personal information we keep will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law.

Aurora will not disclose any individually identifiable information about its users to any third party.

This is a secured site. When you enter your personal details (on the ordering detail page only) the padlock should be present at the bottom of your browser. This means the site is secured.

The site is secured by SSL (Secure Socket Layer). Aurora does not disclose information to third parties. Cookies are used on the site to keep track of the shopping basket contents. We will only use the personal data to contact you if (and only then) there is a problem with an order you have submitted - in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

The only data we retain is: name, address, phone number and e-mail address to enable us to send your order to the right address.

Returns, Refunds and Complaints

If you have any problems please phone, write or e-mail Aurora.

We will endeavour to sort out a problem within 5 days of receiving the complaint.

Please report non-delivery after ten 10 days of placing the order. IT MUST BE before 30 days if delivery/non-delivery is within the UK.

If an item needs replacing please phone or e-mail, within 30 days of receiving the goods, so we can make arrangements.

If the goods are faulty, damaged or different from those ordered, please contact us within 30 days of you receiving the order. We will replace the goods free of charge including postage, or give a full refund (if preferred) - within 30 days. It is important that you return the goods for you to receive a replacement or refund.

Because of the risk factor glass broken in transit will be refunded but we do charge postage costs for returns. See ‘Glass and Guarantees’,

If the goods are ordered in error we will refund the goods in full, if sent back within 30 days of your receiving the order, but we will charge postage costs.

Complaints are handled on a one to one basis by phone or e-mail, even by post if a reply is not urgent, and we will try to come to a satisfactory conclusion within 5 days of the complaint, keeping you up to date on progress. All complaints will remain confidential and fair. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Cancellation Of Order

An order may be cancelled without reason within 7 days of receiving the order.

Payment for the goods will be refunded within 30 days of notice of the cancellation and following receipt of the goods by Aurora. The customer is required to pay the cost of returning the goods. The amount to be mutually agreed. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Collecting Your Order

If you have indicated that you wish to collect your order from the shop we will contact you by email letting you know the date from which your order will be ready for collection.

We will take payment, either by Credit Card, Cheque or Cash, when you collect your order.

Paying By Credit/Debit Card

We take most major credit/debit cards.

You will be advised by e-mail of the amount to be charged. Your payment will be processed once the goods have been dispatched. Do not forget to provide the Security Number (last 3 digits on the back of the card), Start Date and Issue Number (if provided).

Credit Card Fraud: Aurora has the right to check that the given card is registered at the address provided. If there are any discrepancies we will e-mail you to make alternative arrangements.

Paying By Cash

We do not accept cash payments for any orders by mail. Cash is acceptable in the shop along with cheques and credit/debit cards..

VAT and the Cost of Goods

All items are subject to VAT at 17.5% which is included in the prices shown on this site. Exceptions at ZERO VAT are Literature, Kombucha Culture & Nutrient, Teas and other miscellaneous items which may be added to our catalogue at a later date and indicated as such. If you have any problems or queries please call us on 05600 498552 or e-mail.

Postage is not included in the cost of goods as shown on this site. All goods sold to customers in the UK and Northern Ireland are charged £2.95 postage regardless of weight and invoice value.

International Customers will be contacted by e-mail, following packaging and weighing, with the cost of postage according to Royal Mail prices. The order is then kept on hold until we receive confirmation.

Goods sold remain the property of Aurora until paid for in full, under UK law.

On receipt of payment we can then forward you the goods. They do not accept errors and omissions. Cost prices fluctuate and so are subject to change. We will e-mail if an item ordered has been subject to a price increase. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Glass & Guarantees

Sending glass by mail can be a risky process; sometimes it does break! WE DO NOT RECOMMEND SENDING GLASS BY MAIL ORDER.

Our contracts with Parcel Force and other carriers do not offer a guarantee for glass goods broken during transit (very few carrier companies have such guarantees for glass). However, in the event of broken glass we will refund the cost of the glass goods but the customer is requested to pay for the cost of shipping the goods back to us. You can have the broken goods replaced or a full refund. In order to receive a refund or replacement please contact us within 15 working days of receiving the goods.

We always endeavour to pack glass to the best of our ability and ensure that the goods at the time of packing are fit for the purpose for which they were intended (Ref: Sale of Goods Act 1979). If you require any further details please call 05600 498552 or e-mail us. We will be happy to help.

Arranging for your own carrier to pick up the goods from our shop is always an alternative option. This does not affect your statutory rights.

We try to keep every product line fully stocked but if there is a particular item you are looking for which is similar to items we usually stock, we will try our best to get hold of it for you.

Out of Stock Items

If a particular item is out of stock we will endeavour to place a ‘Temporarily Out of Stock’ sign on the item as soon as possible. However, if too late, and with your permission, we will contact you by e-mail - highly recommended contact method for orders of a single item e.g. Teapot. Alternatively you will be informed on your invoice or by letter.

Aurora does not replace out of stock items with products we consider similar and of the same quality unless specifically requested to do so.

International Shipping Details

All orders received for international shipping will be packed, then weighed, after which we will e-mail you the price for shipping the order. You will then be requested to confirm the order and the shipping price in order for us to forward your goods. This method therefore avoids the after effects of reading a surprisingly large invoice.

The preferred method of payment is by credit card as conversion is automatic.

ALL GOODS WILL BE INVOICED AND PAID FOR IN POUNDS STERLING.

PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR ALL ORDERS DELIVERED OUTSIDE THE UK YOU, THE RECIPIENT, WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL IMPORT DUTIES AND LOCAL TAXES INCURRED.

YOU, THE RECIPIENT, ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING [strongly recommended] THAT THE GOODS ARE LAWFULLY ALLOWED IN YOUR COUNTRY.

AURORA IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR BREAKING ANY INTERNATIONAL LAWS. IF THE GOODS ARE CONFISCATED BY CUSTOMS YOU, THE RECIPIENT, ARE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE.

International shipping prices are for the most part according the Royal Mail Small Packet service. However this may vary depending on the size, weight and urgency of the order.

About Us

A very small and insignificant Aurora few years ago specialised only in leaf teas and coffees supplying just a few shops in the UK as a wholesaler.

Our superb quality teas were to be the reason for our purchasing the beautiful Yixing Teapots - it seemed only fair to provide a teapot of equal quality! They complement each other in a very fine way.

Kombucha made an appearance in our lives at about the same time as the Yixing Teapots. Kombucha has been drunk in China and the Far East for a few thousand years and research into our teas revealed that tea was used in making Kombucha. Now what better teas to make Kombucha with.... Then, of course, finding the best equipment was necessary.

Coffees were included solely because it seemed appropriate, then the coffee and tea making equipment followed. Herbal teas came in later.

Kombucha is very popular in Europe which is where we source the equipment. Whilst researching this we found sauerkraut, cheese making, butter making, rumtopf and other contintental kitchen craft equipment. These we order in approximately 6 times a year.

The hair and skin care is our latest and (equally) finest product of all. Very few companies in the UK make such products without any petrochemicals whatsoever. If there are any, they’re expensive. Yet there are so many of us desperate to ease the constant skin irritations caused by modern day skin care products. We turned to Sweden and found the answer. Excellent products and easily affordable. We don’t charge a fortune for the packaging (as you will see!).

So we set up shop in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire (Last of the Summer Wine Country) in December 2000.

We update the website on a weekly basis (exceptions are holidays and high days!).
